One thing that I have usually questioned about is how effective are these units for the elimination of flying insects. After all the sunshine attracts insects to kill them. So may it not produce a cloud of pests just hanging around that haven't but been killed? Though the satisfaction from the electrocution is likely to be compensation for this in some individuals's minds. I grew up in the Black Forest (not the well-known one). Out close to the again deck we had a bug zapper hanging from the limb of a pine tree. Hundreds of the native moths would get there, maybe hundreds. Every year the Miller Moths invade, getting into every crack they will. Hiding along the route of their migration. And thus the first reason for the electric bug killer. In the future I used to be fascinated to see a blue jay perching on the facet of the bug zapper. It was poking it beak into the interior house. I used to be certain that it was going to harm itself, but it did not, even when it pulled moths proper off the electrified grid. Clever hen. We not often had to clean the thing out due to it and its successors.
